Please note - it is normal school uniform tomorrow. We decided against doing "Xmas Jumpers Day" in 2015 as it was putting families under pressure to buy them. Save your money for the main event! We will be having a Charity Day on Tuesday with stalls - so a pound or two for the kids to spend will be sufficient!

Message to parents and carers of children at Neatherd, from the headteacher. Dear Parent/ Carer I am taking the unusual step of writing to update you about two incidents in school. I hope that this prevents any misinformation that may be around and, crucially, will reassure you that your child is very safe in our school. Last week a child was found carrying a kitchen knife in school, allegedly for protection. A brave witness informed staff of this first thing in the morning and the student was immediately apprehended and the police called, who confiscated the knife. The child is no longer at Neatherd and no children were harmed. Early this morning we were alerted by a parent of a separate incident involving a child stating on social media that he/she would bring a gun onto the school site. Police were immediately called and responded rapidly, meeting the child on arrival at school. The child was arrested and searched by the police, who found no weapon. The child is not on the school site and again, no children were harmed. Students have been informed in assemblies yesterday and today and also in messages given to them by their subject teachers today. I hope that this gives you the clarification and reassurance you need before the weekend. We have also sent this as a letter attached to an email to all parents. Yours Peter Devonish

It's FLD1 (Flexible Learning Day 1) tomorrow, and lots of pupils are going out on trips. Y7 are going up to the North Norfolk coast, Y9 are going to the science museums in London and Y11 are going to Norwich Castle for history field work. Here's a summary of what to wear/bring! Year 7 - check the weather forecasts and wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Pupils will be walking along the beach at Wells and the wooded section at the back - sandy and soily - no need for wellies really but some kids wear them. Could be cold so hats/gloves/scarves may help. Take food for the trip - nothing smelly as they are on a coach! Times will be as normal and back for the buses. Year 11 - smart school uniform - it is a day-long history lesson and there will be other schools in the castle too. Bring food, pupils will not be allowed to leave the site for lunch. Bring pens and notepads - museum guides will be teaching the classes key features for the exam. Times are as normal. Year 9 - school uniform - drop pupils off at school for 0545 hours (5:45am) and expect them to be back 1830hrs (6:30pm) earliest - arrival depends on traffic (think M25 - M11 - A11 - A47!!!) . Bring packed lunch and drink (free school meals packed lunches are provided).

Message from Mr O'Brien: "We are really pleased with how our students have started the new academic year. If there are issues - please tell us. It is always our aim to communicate with all parents and carers as quickly and as effectively as possible. Working together is really important. Miss Ford and Mrs Wickers are in Student Reception for day to day issues and the Heads of House are on hand for longer term concerns around progress, attitude or settling in. Ask to speak to Mrs Jacobs for issues in the community and more serious behaviour concerns and Mr O'Brien around safety and SEN needs. Please be aware that we cannot always meet parents without an appointment upon arrival at reception - especially at the start of the school day when we are busy with our students, just before or during lessons. Always try and make an appointment in advance so that we can arrange a meeting for you with the correct member of staff and the necessary information prepared. If you do need to speak to someone in an emergency or if it’s an urgent safeguarding matter, please do make this clear."

Trips and visits - pricing information for parents and carers. We are acutely aware of the financial costs of sending children to school such as uniforms, sports kits, learning resources and other items. A good school will always offer opportunities for its students to go on school trips and educational holidays. These need to be budgeted for well in advance of the events, especially in these 'times of austerity'. With this in mind, this post is to let our Neatherd families know about: 1. What trips will be taking place, and for whom, and when 2. The approximate financial outlay required Often, school children are well aware of the difficulties we face in meeting such costs, and will purposefully hide any letters or information about trips from their parents to save them the disappointment. Therefore the third aim of this post is to let you make your own decisions with as much forewarning as possible. Please note these prices are rough, and will not include the extras like spending money, suitable clothes, bags etc. In Year 7 the main trip is to Normandy in France during July's Curriculum Enhancement Week. Approximately half the year group usually go. They stay in a chateau and visit local touristic sites, practise their French with locals in towns and markets and so on. The cost of this trip is approximately £380. There are other smaller trips, to Norfolk coast with geography in November for example, which costs £6.50. As this is part of their curriculum, these minor trips all incur 'voluntary payments' without which the courses could not run. For children who do not go to France, we offer a range of daily activities and excursions e.g. to Africa Alive. In Year 8 the main 'big trip' is an outward bounds camping trip to Bramley Lakes in Horsford in north Norwich. This 'Neatherd institution' is run by the PE department and involves abseiling, climbing, raft building and so on. This costs £140 and takes place in the CE Week in July 2018. Year 8 will also go on a geography day field trip to Wroxham in March, which includes a boat trip for £11. In Year 9 the 'big trip' is with history to the WWI battlefields of Belgium and France. This 4-day trip is approximately £280 and the deposit of £50 will be due in October. Usually between 30 and 50 students go out on this trip. Also in Year 9, preparations are made for a geography trip in Year 10 to Iceland. This is for students who choose GCSE geography, and is quite a big cost of £950 payable by the end of Year 9. Sporting students in Years 9 and 10 who enjoy football or netball get the opportunity to go to a trip to Barcelona, playing against Catalan school teams. The approximate cost of this is £500. The Neatherd Ski Trip is for years 10 and 11. As this is an expensive trip, costing £850, payments begin with a deposit in Year 9 in March. There are other, smaller, trips out of course, such as to castles and museums, and the odd excursion to London for the Science Museum, or to Harry Potter World for media, but we hope this (long) post will help you make the decisions which are the best ones for you and your situation.

Students may bring in summer polo-shirts to wear outside of the ceremonies. Advance warning so parents/carers don't rush around to iron a shirt on Friday morning!

To all of our new year sevens coming to Neatherd tomorrow for a week of induction, welcome, and don't worry! All of our students have been in the same position as you, some of them four years ago! It's okay to feel nervous, this is a big change, and we are all looking forward to making you feel right at home in our lovely school. We have teams of student leaders, sports leaders, prefects, mentors and buddies all looking out for you this week. You will enjoy some lessons in many different subjects and meet a great set of new teachers. Wear your primary school uniform with pride this week, bring some bottled water, you are allowed to drink water in lessons. If you have a phone, please keep it switched off and packed away for the day, we don't allow pupils to use them during school hours....we prefer that you talk to each other instead! We have hot snacks at break time, like mini pizzas, bacon rolls, they cost about a pound. Hot dinners are served, along with cold meals and snacks, between 12:30 and 1:20, but we'll serve you all first this week! A hot meal costs £1.80, or £2.30 with a pudding. Our food is amazing and cooked fresh here in our own kitchen. On Tuesday we have sports festival, but we'll tell you all about that tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy the rest of your weekend.....see you tomorrow between 8:25 and 8:40!

Thank you to the honest & thoughtful Neatherd student(s) who had the presence of mind to see that a student had left their phone in its holder on their bike in the shed, and bring it into reception. This morning one of our students reported a missing phone, which had been left on their bike in error. Naturally, the worst case scenario was presumed. To everyone's joy, the phone had been detached and handed in by someone else. Teenagers and children sometimes get a bad rep, not least on social media - so we are pleased and proud to share this news with you.

A Community of Opportunity A review of the arts by Mrs Sanderson Community spirit and the love of a challenge have been strong at Neatherd High School this year. Staff and students have ventured out into the local and national community to contribute to the arts and industry and to galvanize support from local businesses for our endeavours to maintain high standards of creativity in difficult economic times. This year’s community-focused projects have included work with partner primary schools. Neatherd’s creative arts staff have offered workshops and lessons in art, dance, drama, and music. Our work has helped pupils from Years 1 to 6 to access such diverse artistic experiences such as samba rhythms, contemporary dance, the plays of William Shakespeare, life as a Victorian servant and 3d clay workshops. November saw our students perform in the national Shakepeare Festival at The Norwich Playhouse. The production by Year 9 and 10 students was an imaginative interpretation of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” The cast amazed audiences with their energetic and, at times, hilarious performance. Our annual drama production was staged back in February in the Memorial Hall at the heart of Dereham’s artistic community. “Finch’s” Tale was an original show devised from the imaginations of pupils and staff and ex-Neatherd student, Alice Watts. Alice is currently a student at Dereham Sixth Form and helped with the directing of the show, gaining valuable voluntary work experience to add impetus to her ambition to train as a drama teacher. With the recognized need to enhance the profile of engineering as a lucrative and rewarding creative career path, Neatherd was delighted to be the only state-funded school to host a regional heat of the first Lego League challenge in February. The DT department’s team won the heat and went on to the national final which took place in Bristol. Although they didn’t win, Neatherd’s students proved that they were up to the creative challenge of applying science and technology skills to the creation of robot games. All of the creative and artistic experiences that enrich the education of students are supported by parents who give up their time and adapt their weekend and evening plans to ensure that students are able to attend essential rehearsals and performances. Naturally we rely on parents as supportive exhibition-goers and audience members. Moreover, without parents’ support and their willingness to contribute by buying tickets and refreshments, much needed arts facilities and equipment budgets could not be supplemented as school budgets continue to be eroded by economic cuts. The will and determination to succeed creatively in the face of adversity is undoubtedly strong at Neatherd but economic times are indeed tough! This year then, when we have reached out to community partners, the support offered was incredible. When asked if they could help our GCSE textiles students access good quality fabric remnants, Just Blinds and Curtains on the Rashes Green Industrial Estate said, “Yes! Of course!” When asked if they could provide an exhibition stand at our June fashion show, to demonstrate the links between yarns and fabrics on offer in the shops and the textiles work of our students, Knit Wits on Dereham High Street said, “Yes, of course!” The ladies of the Shipdham Quilters didn’t bat an eyelid when they were asked, on the back of their highly successful exhibition in Shipdham church, to showcase their work in school. Clothing retailers: Chattels of Dereham, M&Co and Emma’s Boutique, in the town centre, all contributed garments, accessories and their time to take part in the highly successful fashion show. Staff from departments as diverse as music, English and Science joined their students on the catwalk to raise money for The Friends of Neatherd High School to inject much needed additional funding to departments across the school. JDT Music has been a long-standing supporter of Neatherd’s Music Department and this year they hosted a group of Year 7 students to help them understand and experience the developing field of music technology, another growing area of potential employment for young people. In short, Neatherd has always prided itself on being a school that sits at the heart of its local community; one that offers its students the opportunity to experience and to succeed in all aspects of life. We recognize that it is short-sighted to inhibit creative opportunities for young people, not least of all because the arts offer increasing opportunities for employment as well as enjoyment on an international scale. In straightened economic times then we carry on, becoming ever more ingenious in our bid to thwart the cuts to creativity! And most of all, we thank the Dereham community for their continued support in our efforts.

Summer Spice Cook-off. Last night saw the largest and most successful Food for Life event of the year take place, our summer spice themed cook off. We had 8 teams competing and this only raised the standard of the meals being cooked. None of the meals were overpowered with spices which was fantastic news for the judges! All of the pupils who took part were absolutely fantastic, if you see them around school please ask them for their secret recipes! The winner of the evening was Mrs Fitt’s Carter team consisting of Elsie Anderson–McDermott, Ellie Dolan and Ella Barnard. They showed valuable teamwork skills which paid off with their homemade tortilla nachos and guacamole complimenting their lettuce leaf fajitas, with a quorn and red pepper filling. They earned themselves a bar of chilli chocolate each for their victory. All participants in the top 4 went home with a jar of hot sauce, the 4 runners up had a share bag of spicy plantain crisps as consolation. A special thanks to Mr Taylor and Mrs Patterson for making the event possible. A special mention to Mr Beanland who tried to cook chicken at 37°C. Mr Anderson, SNAG Coordinator

Neatherd High School students get the chance to vote in their own “General election” Neatherd High School has had a really exciting two weeks with students engaging with politics and deciding to run their own general election. Interest has been high, particularly from those who already attend the school’s debate club. Party leaders have been working hard with their advisors to prepare for a hustings on Tuesday and Wednesday during assembly time, where they attempted to win voters for the election on Thursday 8th June. The school have representatives from the Labour party, the Conservative party, the Liberal Democrats and the Green party. There will be some “real life” polling stations at the Neatherd election on Thursday, manned by staff, so all pupils can cast their votes. Party members have been campaigning during break and lunch times for the past two weeks, handing out leaflets and talking to potential voters - and there is hope for a large turnout on election day! “The dedication towards this election from students has been inspiring. Such interest in politics in these young people gives us hope for the future”, says Joseph Cannon, Head of Society & Ethics department and organiser of the hustings. “It was interesting to see that it was mainly girls who were interested in taking part in the election debates.” “I think it is important that you start being interested in Politics from a young age as it is all about the future of our country,” says Robyn Moore, aged 13, “and people need to understand what politics are about.” “Politics are a crucial part of our lives,” says Holly Gibson who was representing the Labour Party, “if you know about politics now you won’t fall into wormholes in the future when you are able to vote.” She enjoyed showing her “powerful side” and liked to demonstrated that women can do politics as well as men.

May has kept us busy with two qualifying athletic events. The first, the Mid-Norfolk Athletics Championship was held at UEA on Wednesday 15th May. Winners who meet age criteria are to go onto the Norfolk Championships on the 10th of June. A cool and what had been wet morning soon turned into a cool but dry afternoon, and what an afternoon we had! Up against competition from Litcham, Northgate, Sacred Heart, Iceni and Wayland our 59 competitors excitedly showed us what they are made of. There were some outstanding results, but as importantly the way that everyone encouraged their team mates and how pupils were asking to ‘have a go’ on the very few events that we had not filled made it for me. All competitors should be incredibly proud of their achievements particularly when you bear in mind that at this point in the term the weather had been against us and had made practice time a very rare occasion! Huge congratulations and well done! The following week off we went to the UEA again for the West Norwich and Dereham Schools Sports Partnership Competition. This one was a little more tricky! Our 60 competitors were up against some very tough competition as pupils from Northgate, Hellesdon, Taverham, Reepham, and Ormiston took to the track and field, also giving it their all. I’m not sure what they feed them on in these near Norwich schools, but it makes their legs work very, very fast!! Again we had some outstanding results and again each and every one of our competitors should be very proud of themselves. It was a tough one in such hot weather! Cake, Clothes and Crafts Fashion Event at Neatherd High School Thursday 15th June 7-9pm Every year textiles students at Neatherd High school host a fashion show to showcase their work. This year we are changing the format of the show so that we can include teenage and adult fashion that is available in the Dereham area as well as students’ own work. We are delighted to announce that a number of local fashion-focused and textile craft businesses have agreed to take part in this year’s show. Knitwits, Chattels, M&Co., Emma’s Boutique and Morrison’s Nutmeg range will be participating. Each fashion business will host a section of the catwalk show devoted to their stock using Neatherd staff and students as models. The event will also include trade exhibition stands that will showcase the work of local textile artists and offer high quality materials and products for display and sale. The Friends of Neatherd High School will be providing refreshments so that delicious cakes will complete the unbeatable combination of Cs: clothes, crafts and cake. There will be no admission charge for the event and all ages and genders will be catered for and represented in our clothing ranges. The Friends Association has also planned fashion-related creative challenges and a raffle to ensure that the evening will be fun-filled and eventful. Some of the fashion outlets will also be offering discounts for their stores for people who attend the show. We anticipate staff and students will be modelling on the catwalk but if there are any parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters out there who fancy themselves as the next Cara Delavigne Don Lee, please feel free to offer your services by contacting The Friends of Neatherd High School or Mrs Sanderson.

Instagram 'worst for young mental health' - BBC News
There was an interesting article in the news today about social media and how apps can be bad for young people’s mental health. The “worst” app for mental health was Instagram, closely followed by Snapchat, then Facebook, then Twitter then YouTube. At Neatherd, we work hard in both lessons and tutor time, to instil internet safety and proper usage of social media, but this can also be a talking point at home. Have a look at this article from the BBC for further information http://ift.tt/2rwHCSl

7wA Geography with Miss Cross were learning about what makes a country’s population change. They played a game using skittles, which symbolised different people, and cards, telling them what is happening to their population. The aim of the game was to be able to explain what impacts the population rate. Harry from the class said “I thought the game was really good and learnt lots because it told you things about the death rate and how countries can gain people”.

The meat free meal for four cook off competition took place last night, unfortunately Carter and Fry did not enter a team due to last minute ingredient issues and sickness. Kett (Chloe, Angelika and Emma-Leigh and Mrs Waterfield) found head to head against Cavell (Ellie, Elsie, Tamar and Miss Cross). Cavell decided to cook a starter, main and desert complimented with a smoothie drink. Greek pastry bites, yellow pepper pizza, chocolate drizzled donuts and a carrot smoothie were absolutely fantastic. However due to difficulty of the menu board, Cavell ran out of time to have everything tidied up and cleaned. Kett went for a simpler menu of Presto pasta – a spaghetti dish burning with nutrition and flavour. Spinach, pepper, onion, broccoli and quorn chicken as a meat replacement delighted the judged taste buds from the first mouthful. Both teams were fantastic sports, everyone had a taste of each other’s dishes which was really nice to see (Disappointed I didn’t get more donuts though!). Cavell earnt 135 points for their valiant attempt at a three course dinner, but Kett won the evening earing 156 points on the judges score card. Each member received 20 merits a head and received a cooking apron for use in future competitions! Thanks to everyone that popped in and said hi, as well as staff who helped out along the way. After previously winning the County finals, Neatherd KS3 girls badminton team travelled to Thetford to represent Norfolk in the Badminton England Schools Regional Finals. The team consisting of Jasmine, Evie, Katherine, Jess and Abbey, breezed past Cambridgeshire (represented by Comberton School) 5-0 and then beat Bedfordshire (represented by Cedars School) 4-1. These great results took them straight through into the final against Essex (represented by Chelmsford High School). Chelmsford fielded an exceptional team with two players that frequent the National circuit, one of which is ranked within the top 100 female players in England. Our girls put up a spirited fight in all of their games, but finally succumbed 5 games to 0. All returned to school sporting very well earned silver medals. Y7 Boys' Football: Neatherd 1-2 Northgate. Coach Barron writes, "The year 7 boys took on their Northgate rivals on the astro last night! The boys played some really good football and just about shaded possession throughout the game. Unfortunately, we allowed Northgate to have a 2-0 head start as their powerful right winger burst past our defence twice. We hit the post, we hit the bar, Devin Chen pulled a goal back and we missed countless other chances…….but it did finish 2-1 Northgate. The boys did really really well though!"

It has always been fairly close between the two teams with Northgate always narrowly getting the better of us ever since our cup win against them all the way back in year 7! Neatherd's World Book Week was a resounding success. The whole school community was reminded about the power of reading. Authors came and visited, Harry Potter World was visited, assemblies were held, writing workshops were taught, books were swapped, literary-themed cakes baked (and eaten), book-related costumes were worn and above all, everyone read, in silence, together, every day. Hats off to Mrs Hunt and especially our fantastic librarian Mrs Gill, who put in months of planning and organisation. She is pictured here with our Patron of Reading, author Alex Scarrow, whose support is funded by many of the activities this week and across the year. Year 8 Boys' Football Report - Iceni 1-1 Neatherd. Coach Barron reports, "Hi all, The year 8’s went to Iceni yesterday to play their league fixture – it was ridiculously cold!! We dominated the game from start to finish and would have won comfortably in bigger goals, but typically our long spells of possession, countless shots and strong spells of dominance counted for no more than a 1-1 draw. Zak Collins-Idi scored a beautiful goal…..Tom Brown missed a penalty (probably best not to talk about it!). Year 11 at home v Iceni tonight! On the astro after school! Come out and watch! Thanks, Coach Barron"

Boys' Rugby Y10: Neatherd 32-0 Northgate. Mr Miller reports, "In years 7, 8 & 9 we won this fixture easily. However, the Northgate team this year have been well-fed and physically were now much more of a challenge. We played well early on, worked hard, scoring plenty of tries but each one was hard fought – so it was physically a very demanding game. The fixture was played in correct spirit, but I have to say it was a well-deserved and clear cut win for us. (NB Absolutely no confusion over the offside law at any time)"

World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March is non uniform for students who choose to come dressed as a named character from a book/ comic strip/ magazine (not just a film). If they choose not to dress up then they must wear their normal school uniform. If students want to come dressed as named characters who wear normal everyday clothes then they must show that they are that character by using ‘props’ from the book i.e.- if the character uses a camera and writes news stories then they must create a ‘press pass’ and wear an old camera around their neck. Muggles are not ‘named’ characters… If they choose to come to school in costume then they must be dressed appropriately- no hooped earrings, short skirts, low cut tops etc… The cost for dressing up is £1 per family which goes to pay for a patron of reading. Currently we have Alex Scarrow as our Patron of Reading and all students are benefitting.

Y8&9 boys' basketball update! Mr Anderson writes, "The combined year 8 and 9 team tipped off their basketball season last night, you could smell the nerves on the way there. Our inexperience showed in the first quarter as we went 6-0 down within minutes. Once Neatherd began to get a feel for the pace and flow of the game, we defended with intensity and began to make our comeback. Jake Melton lead the charge with 6 points in the first half, he ended up with a total of 12. Being tall always helps in a game that involves putting a ball through a 10 foot hoop. What Kane Clark lacks in height he makes up for with athleticism and superior dribbling technique, he bulldozed his way to the basket for two excellent layups. We entered the 4th quarter with a 1 point lead, true champions rise to this type of occasion which our boys did magnificently. We stopped the ball crossing the half and ran down the clock with the last possession to seal the game. The end score was 23-22, the first of many wins to come. Thanks to Coach Lyons for some expert refereeing and Coach Hood as transport coordinator. If you see the boys around school give them a big congratulations. Girls' football update! The year 8 and 9 girls football team played against their Northgate rivals last night on the astro. They played really well and worked hard together all the way through the match, with some stand out performances from Tash Ward, Arden Scott and Alexis Mitchell as well as Ellie Ampleford dominating in the middle. Unfortunately in the first half we decided we would give them a 6-0 head start……..however at half time we completely changed! We scored two really well-constructed team goals through Alexis Mitchell and Arden Scott and managed to win the second half 2-1. Final score 7-2 to Northgate, but they have been training and playing a lot lot lot longer than us, as shown by their central midfielder who scored 4 of their goals (3 from outside of the area!) who ran the show for them! Please congratulate the girls if you see them! More fixtures to be arranged!! Neatherd STEM Lego Report Neatherd High School hosted the East of England Lego League Championship on Sunday 29th January, 2017 6 Teams from around the county and beyond came to compete at the Lego League Championship. We had a fantastic event, 12 judges from a range of different Engineering and Science backgrounds helped ensure the event was fair and in line with the Lego League Rules. Lunch was provided by Frances who not only cooked lunch but of course an awesome pudding for all in attendance. Tasha Nicholson (Chair of Friends) provided the team with branded T-Shirts, which helped hugely in the core values element, and really demonstrated a ‘team’ unity for Neatherd. The Lego cake she baked also helped! Neatherd Won! Team NeXT : Aaron Nicholson, Lili-Mae Nicholson, Sergio Mendes, Olaf Don, Edward Curl and Billy Hall. They were awarded First Place in three of the four elements and second in the fourth. Judges were exceptionally complimentary about the team's resilience, independence and autonomy. They were ‘solution focused’ and often found fixes for the robot swiftly. We are now moving onto the National Final at Bristol University on 26th February. Thank you to a huge amount of support from different local companies. Birds of Dereham provided the judges and support staff with branded polo shirts (free of charge!). Starlings Toy Shop, in Dereham, provided us with a huge amount of freebies to award pupils efforts, and a great deal of display stands to really make the event exciting. Mr Chapman

First Outing Badminton Success for Neatherd Friday 27th January saw Neatherd’s first outing to the National Schools Badminton Tournament. Both the KS3 boys and girls entered teams and each played against three other schools in matches consisting of both singles and doubles. The boys team of Matt, George, Josh, Miguel and Ashton played valiantly but were unable to overcome the stronger teams. However all other teams were predominantly made up of year nine players whereas Neatherd's were predominantly y7 and y8. All represented Neatherd to the highest standard and there is huge promise for future years as our young team strengthens and grows. The girls however, took the competition by storm, winning all of their matches. The team of Jasmine, Evie, Katherine, Jess and Abbey only dropped two games out of 15. For a first outing at competitive level, this is a true excellent result and their reward will be a trip to the regional finals. All players played with great sportsmanship and represented Neatherd to the highest standard. I am very proud of them all. Faye LeBon (coach)

Food For Life News: Today we restarted the adult community cooking session, which aims to get adults and pupils involved with cooking healthy and nutritious meals. We had five pupil premium students and three parents involved – all dads which was great to see. The meal of the day was a chickpea and coconut curry which the pupils really enjoyed creating and cooking. They were amazed at the reduction of spinach and thoroughly enjoyed picking out new and exotic spices to use (smoked paprika). Connor Webster and Emily Aldus braved a teaspoon of chilli powder which required a gallon of squash to ease the pain. I did warn them! All pupils involved got to take home their meal for tonight’s tea, as well as a goodie bag of ingredients to cook it again with a recipe card. If you see any of these students around school please give them a big congratulations. They were well behaved and eager for another event.
