Press Gang member Jessica from Year 8 interviewing Mr O'Brien about the transgender day of remembrance tomorrow (November 20th). Pupils were taught about the day during form time today. TDoR is observed annually on 20th November as a day to remember those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia an to draw attention to the continued violence endured by the trans community. TDoR was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a trans woman to mark the murder of a trans woman Rita Hesler in Massachusetts. It was originally a web-based project but has become an international day of action with over 20 countries taking part, including the UK. A TDoR memorial will usually involve a name reading, candlelight vigils arts shows, food drives, film screenings and marches.
