Neatherd Dance Academy

Neatherd Dance Academy. We are thrilled to announce that the groups that regularly meet and dance with Miss Carter De Bois in school at lunch times will become collectively known as Neatherd Dance Academy. Miss Carter De Bois who is a qualified ITDA dance teacher as well as being a highly regarded member of Neatherd’s staff will lead NDA. She will be supported by members of the Creative Arts Faculty, especially Miss Dark who is a dance graduate with experience with professional dance companies in addition to her teaching experience. Our aim as NDA is to offer classes and workshops covering a range of styles, including ballet, contemporary, tap and musical theatre. We hope that the move to one collective group will give students a sense of identity as Neatherd dancers, as well as a feeling of inclusivity within a forum where dancers of all ages and abilities are welcomed and supported Miss Carter De Bois and Miss Dark hope to offer familiar performance opportunities such as participation in the talent show, dance shows and the school production. The school even has its own Neatherd Dance Academy website enabling Parents/Carers to purchase dancewear and accessories at very reasonable and competitive prices. This website is exclusively for the use of the students that attend Neatherd Dance Academy. Miss Carter De Bois is also exploring possibilities for inviting dance professionals into school to work with our students during after-school sessions. Proposed trips and events will include excursions to see live dance at local venues such as the Theatre Royal and to experience dance festivals and competitions. The re-branding of Neatherd Dance will also include a bespoke “dance uniform”. We hope that this will promote a collective identity and will give students a sense of pride when they represent themselves and their school during trips and events. Naturally there will be expenses involved in the running of trips and workshops and for the purchase of uniforms. We hope that parents will be able to support us in this respect. In return, we will endeavour to raise money to help subsidise expenses where possible through fund-raising activities. We will also work closely with the school to access funding families who need financial assistance to ensure that no-one misses out on dance opportunities at school. Please feel free to contact Miss Carter De Bois with any questions or suggestions you may have. . . . . .
