Dear parents/carers, Over the next few days, members of staff will be phoning home to see how pupils have been getting on so far during the school closure. We will try to answer any questions that you or they may have and can discuss if there is anything we can do as a school to give your children - or indeed your family more broadly - any additional support during this difficult time. Please note that many members of staff will be working from home and have been asked to block their number for safeguarding reasons, so your phone may display an 'unknown number / unknown caller' message when it rings. If we are unable to make contact, we will leave a message where possible and will try to call you at another time. Take care and stay safe. Best wishes, Mr Mallett (Deputy Head)

Request a swab kit to register as a potential blood stem cell donor
An urgent message from DKMS. "We are hugely concerned about the impact COVID-19 is having on those who are relying on a blood stem cell donor to save their lives. Cancer patients are having their treatment plans changed or delayed, often in ways that will have a detrimental impact on the likely success of those treatment. The same applies for blood cancer patients: while many stem cell transplants are still proceeding, the circumstances in which to organise them have become more difficult and more uncertain. There are also transplants that have been deferred or delayed. So we still need even more potential blood stem cell donors, and we know from our clinicians that once the world is free of COVID-19 there will be even more transplants needed. You or someone you know may be the lifesaver someone is looking for. In such difficult times, it’s crucial to pull together and support those that need it the most. By spreading the word, you offer hope to people with blood cancer and blood disorders as we face these uncertain and difficult times." Please share widely https://ift.tt/2yeYUvd

Thinkuknow - home
#NeatherdWellbeing - the first in a series from the indomitable Mr O'Brien. As you know, schools across the UK are now closed to most families. This is a difficult time for most parents. There is a really good new website available to provide you with support and resources to help you learn about online safety at home with your child. This is the website: https://ift.tt/1m4n0dF This website contains helpsheets and 15 minute activities you can do with your child and will be updated regularly. I often see a divide in meetings about online safety where parents want to know more about the online world and young people have all that knowledge but don't use it as wisely as they could. This could be an opportunity to learn together and create a more open culture in some homes about internet use. It's also something to timetable into the day. Please encourage your young people to read my regular safeguarding and wellbeing emails on nsix. Good health at this time, Nick O'Brien Assistant headteacher, Safeguarding Lead

Message from Mr Smith Dear parents/carers If you are a critical worker you will have received an email from the school that includes a link to a survey we need completed if you are intending on sending your child/children to school on Monday. Please fill this in as soon as possible and no later than midnight tonight. We will only be expecting children of parents who have completed the survey and informed us of their intention to attend on Monday. If you haven’t been offered a place or completed the form by the deadline then you must not send your child in to school from Monday. For safeguarding reasons we need to know exactly who to expect in school. Should any child arrive in school on Monday who we are not expecting we will need to contact parents and arrange for them to be collected. Thanks you for your continued support.

Parents/carers - the school is currently calling home to enquire about whether you may qualify for key worker status. So if you find an unanswered call from the school on your phones today this will most probably not be an emergency. Thanks for your cooperation, as in lieu of any explanation of the definition of "key workers" from Whitehall we are trying to plan ahead for next week.

I am sure you will have heard the announcement yesterday evening that schools in England will close on Friday. We found out this news at the same time as everyone else. We know that many of you will have questions about school being open next week and who this will be for. This is going to take a little organisation and we are waiting for a some more guidance from central government and the Local Authority. Nevertheless, we will be doing out utmost to make the situation work and support the key workers and families that need us most I am told we will receive more guidance today. Once we are clear about what this is and we have a clear plan in place, we will be in touch. Please keep a close eye out for email communications from the school. Chris Smith Headteacher
