Sparks Dance Group - a statement from Miss Harris We are very proud of the dance talent at Neatherd High School. There are clearly masses of children at this school that can and love to dance. I try my best to make sure there is a club for all students wanting to dance as sadly we do not offer dance as a subject at KS3. However, I am not able to accommodate such a large number of students in my extra-curricular dance group, Sparks. The students were informed after the grueling audition process that they would only perform once together as a team at Neatherd’s Got Talent as there would need to be a further cut. I am extremely sad to have had to tell some students that they will no longer be dancing as part of Sparks but it couldn’t have been more clear that they were NOT losing their place because they weren’t good enough or didn’t have enough dance talent. All students were outstanding dancers who can and should take dance as a GCSE if they are not already studying the course as they could do exceptionally well. All of Sparks shined in the Talent Show and the students who lost their place have been offered the opportunity to choreograph and lead the ‘dance club’ that starts in the new year. As terrific dancers and creative choreographers, they will be able to put their name to, and dance in, another amazing performance at this years’ Dance Show in March. Hope to see you there! Miss Harris
