Recent STEM happenings...on June 16 Local schools took part in UK engineering challenge at Neatherd 6 schools competed in the BBC MicroBit Challenge. Pupils from Framingham Earl, Northgate High School, Thorpe St Andrew and Neatherd High School. Pupils were given small challenges at the start to get them used to the new equipment. They then spent the time developing their own ‘gadget’ for use in their chosen area. Pupils were asked to look at device that might aid the disabled. A gadget that might allow a sports person practice of a device to help machine operators keep their concentration. They presented their work and a panel of judges awarded points on presentation skills, viability, creativity and team work. Framingham Earl took the IET Challenge trophy, and a place at the regional finals. The modesty of the STEM/Technology department meant that this news comes to you so late! Well done to Mr Chapman, Head of Technology, and his team.
