As the weather turns chillier, it is more important than ever that students are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. A plain, light coloured t shirt or vest can be worn under the school shirt for an extra layer of warmth. A jumper is also recommended and should be worn under (and not instead of) the school blazer. To help families to quickly source a suitable jumper we are relaxing the uniform policy to include any plain navy v-necked jumper (the Neatherd logo is not compulsory). For PE, plain navy tracksuit bottoms are a much warmer option than shorts or a skort and, on top, students can wear the PE polo shirt, the school rugby shirt and a plain navy sweatshirt. Should they wish to, students can also wear skins/base layers under their PE kit to provide an additional layer of warmth. Finally, please ensure your child has a suitable, warm and waterproof coat for school. If students arrive at school wet, it is very difficult for them to get warm and dry. A plastic bag can be used inside the school bag to keep the contents dry in heavy rain. As always, if you have any questions regarding uniform or need any support to ensure your child has all the uniform they need, please contact us.
Please see attached a letter that is being emailed home today regarding covid-19.

Unfortunately this year we will not be inviting Yr6 pupils and their parents/carers to look around the school during Open Mornings or for Open Evening on Thursday 8th October. This is due to situation with Covid. Instead, we will be hosting a Virtual Open Evening on Thursday 8th October, which aims to replicate Open Evening as much as possible. At 5pm on Thursday 8th Oct, a welcome video from the head teacher will go live, which will be followed by an interactive virtual tour of the school. Visitors can navigate round the school, along corridors and into classrooms, as is normal on Open Evening. At different points of the tour, visitors can open up links to more information, images and also welcome videos from staff in different departments. There will also be a ‘live’ video event later that evening, when parents/pupils can ask questions. We hope all this will give Yr6 pupils and parents/carers a great Open Evening experience in the comfort of their own home!

The journey to school does involve a few crossings. Some of them require the children's full attention when crossing - in particular by the railway crossing at the bottom of Norwich Road. We have had a couple of reports of some impolite behaviour to motorists from some pupils as they crossed the road carelessly this week. We apologise for this. We regularly remind pupils about how they should behave on the journeys to and from school - at the end of lessons, in form time, and via assemblies. We welcome your support as parents and carers in doing the same. Please let us know if you see anything we should deal with, at office@neatherd.org

Reminder – Lost Property There appears to be a lot of students property which was left in school prior to lockdown. Items include coats, trainers, bags etc. many of which are not labelled. We also have several pairs of glasses, house keys and some items of jewellery. Please could you check with your son/daughter to see whether they are missing such items and ask them to speak with their Form Tutor to liaise their return. Whilst we endeavour to reunite students with their property we are unable to hold on to them indefinitely and these will be disposed of. Kind regards, Student Development Team

In line with homework starting next week, the Gateway homework club WILL be open from next week for students to complete homework. Like everyone else, however, we will have to follow the social distancing rules and have year group bubbles in at a time. Each year group will have the opportunity to come to homework club once a week before school (from 8.20am), break time, lunch time and after school. For break and lunch sessions we will come to the year group community area and collect students wishing to come to homework club. For after school we will collect from the tennis courts and exits. For before school, please could the members of staff on the entrance gates send the students to the Gateway. Only designated year groups will be allowed to use the homework club – anyone else will be sent away.
